HOW TO THINK POSITIVE: 30 WAYS THAT CAN HELP

In today’s time you often get to hear that in order to be healthy, happy and stress free you need to think positive. Also in my previous posts even I have recommended that one should have a positive outlook and also one should focus on brighter side of life in order to remain happy and thus remaining young at heart.



But the question here is that, how you can think positive or how you can have a positive outlook? Few people may say that to think positive just try not to think negative. But again the question comes in mind that what you should do to avoid negative thinking?
So let us see what is to be done in order to think positive:
  1. Try not to use negative words while talking or even while thinking i.e. during self talk. The negative words or phrases like I can’t do this, that’s impossible, I shouldn’t have done this, this is so bad etc. As using these negative words frequently becomes a habit and makes the person a pessimist. So you should replace the negative words with positive one’s like I can do it, I believe, there must be some way out etc.
  2. Remember good things, good days, your gains completed tasks rather than focusing on bad incidents, losses or incomplete things.
  3. Rather than grumbling over your failures and feeling disheartened take them as lessons and transform your failures into successes.
  4. Maintain a happy diary i.e. start recording the positive and happy moments of the day. Read this diary whenever you feel a bit low or sulky as it will help in recalling all the happy things and thus strengthen you to face everything happily.
  5. Begin each day with a positive note like today will be a great day, I am the best and I will fulfill your dreams. This will enable you to work happily and complete the daily tasks with much ease and will get a sense of fulfillment. Always feel that today is a new beginning and you will do your best today.
  6. Spend time with people who practice positivity and avoid people who are full of negativity within. As people who are positive are happy and they spread positive attitude and thus happiness in the surroundings.
  7. Live in present, forget worrying about the past incidents and stop being apprehensive about the future. Live for the moment as this will ensure happiness and satisfaction. Past needs only to considered for comparison for further improvement and learning and not to be dwelled upon while future should be considered for setting right goals and not unrealistic targets.
  8. Read and watch light hearted comedy as it helps in giving a funny bent to your mind and generates positive emotions and enable you to tackle various difficult situations in the most light hearted manner as possible. Also we have many a times seen that in school or college the bunch of most notorious and humorous of students are the most happy go lucky one’s as they take each and every situation in positive and most funniest possible way.
  9. Be grateful to your family and society for what all you have in life as it is because of them. This will enable you to rise in life and be happy. Even Roy T Bennett has rightly quoted that, “You are not rich until you have rich heart.”
  10. Always follow your heart and do whatever you feel like doing and not doing things which others have told you or which pleases others. Just try to be yourself and not what others want you to be.
  11. Love, respect and have confidence in yourself as only then you will feel positively happy and will succeed in life.w
  12. Stop trying to be perfect all the time as while trying to do so you forget to live as you are busy removing your imperfections throughout and thus the time flies away a
  13. Smile a lot as smiling makes the world appear beautiful and positive. Smile is great mood lifter. Whenever you feel low and doomed go in front of a mirror and smile at yourself it will surely create a difference.
  14. Be a learner: Always remain open to learning new things in life. As this keeps you updated and hence motivated and positive.
  15. Read inspirational books and quotations: as it will increase the positive energy in you and will inculcate positive ideas and images.
  16. Never quit always keep trying till you succeed no matter how many a times you lose, never feel disheartened. This will enhance your internal positivity. Also there’s a famous quote from Walt Disney that “The difference between winning and losing is most often...not quitting”.
  17. Start doing meditation or yoga as it helps in exhaling bad and negative thoughts and inhaling positiveness. Meditation keeps mind, heart and soul healthy and free from all the negativities.
  18. Try to be creative and think out of the box as being more creative means being more positive also it will enable you come out with different ways to tackle various problems and emerge out as a winner. Even it is said that, “Winners don’t do different things but they do things differently”.
  19. Be Happy and grateful for what all you have rather than cribbing about things you don’t have and are beyond your control. Always follow in life the glass half full approach rather than half empty.
  20. Listen to music when you feel down with stress as it releases all the stress and uplifts your mood.
  21. Whenever a negative thought crops up change the task and follow an interesting hobby as it will help in flow of positive energy and will relieve all your stress.
  22. Try to find opportunities in problems as it will help you to stay positive and fight with the difficult situation and come out as winner. Always feel that there is an opportunity to improve in every loss, in every failure
  23. Try to visualise what you wish to achieve in life and have faith that you can achieve it and this will eventually help you to remain positive and motivated throughout.
  24. Take onus of your failure instead of blaming others and try to rectify your mistake.
  25. Work out or go out for a walk as it helps to drain your stress and negative energy.
  26. Try to see the bigger picture in life and not feel negative about the little things you couldn’t achieve. Just appreciate what you received and what all you can achieve.
  27. Indulge yourself in the beauty nature whenever you feel drained out as it will rejuvenate you with positive energy.
  28. Make small goals rather than a big one: setting huge goals often leads to a lot of stress and discouragement. Try to create baby goals and that to one at a time and keep moving towards the final goal you wanna reach.
  29. Always remember that time will change and no time, bad or good stays for long. Thus never feel disheartened if you come across bad times.
  30. Last but not the least make it a habit to think positive all the time.

I hope these points have given you a fair idea on how you can think positive. However learning to think positive at every point of time, one needs a lot of practice. But once learned you can appreciate world of difference in yourself and your life. You will begin to feel happy, satisfied and far beyond the worries. It will also help you achieve exponential growth and an improved and healthy life. In conclusion I would love to quote a few lines written by Mahatama Gandhi:
